Matchbox Travel Games
Matchbox Travel Games
# Criterion A : Students explains about the project discussing relevance
AOI: Health and Social - I think the class chose this because we all thought cultures and games were part of the Social problems.
Learner Profile: Open-minded - I think the class had chosen this because to observe games from many different cultures, being open-minded is very important.
Unit Question: Why are games well loved by people all ages in cultures around the world?
In this unit our class will be making travel games out of matchbox.
We will first be researching about why people love playing games, different travel games, and compare and contrast and find out how the games in different cultures around the world looks like. After finding out those information, we will make our own travel games out of matches.
I am looking foreward for this because it will be very interesting to see 22 different travel games and to actually trying them.
This project is important to our class in that we can learn different cultures.
It is also going to be very fun because "everyone loves game"
By doing this project, I think we can all learn the difference between people from different cultures.(Like what they consider as "fun" or their ways of thinking when creating somthing)
I hope I could finish this project successfully.

Thank you...
Justine, Tiffany, Vanessa, Teresa, Aha Yeong, Pulee, Anudari, Jun woo, Justin, Sung eun,
for answering my survey questions. (I hope they are right...)
Also, when I was doing the survey, I heard many different comments from others.
One of the positive comment was like...
"The earth at the corner was nice."-one of the people
and..
one of the negative comment was like...
"The music wasn't really matching the video.."-a different one of the people
When I was doing the investigation, I didn't really wrote on the "MYP Technology and the Design Cycle" worksheet much (sources). I just wrote every sources on the Microsoft word and printed out.
When I was working on the designing and planning, I made a storyboard of what my video will
look like. I tried to follow my plans but, I had to change them because....
First, the movie maker program did not have some effects that I expected to have.
Second, it was really hard to find the pictures I wanted to have.
And last, I just wanted to change my plan after I saw how the movie making program works.
It would have been better if I knew the program before I was planning my work. Then, I wouldn't have needed to change my plan so much.
For the "create", it was very challenging because it was my first time making a video.
I think I did quit well considering that this was my first time but, I could make more improvements to it if I have another chance making a video like having more subtitles (I had a hard time working on the subtitles so, I couldn't have a lot of it in). I felt kind of "sad" when the last part repeated twice even though I didn't meant it.
I'm don't really think my video can affect anyone or solve any social problems that much but to me, I learned a lot of new things(especially "how to make a video") and I'm sure that this will help me later on.
* And I'm planning to send my video to my baby cousin!
She might learn....English.... : )

Third, I did not have enough time because my original plan was to work on it at school during Monday and Tuesday, which was the Tsgansaar holiday. And I had to do it over at home which made me to take more time and change the plan.

What is the guiding question forthis unit?
What answers do you have for the guiding question?
What is the Area of Interaction for this unit? Do you think it was a good choice? Why?
What questions have your research brought up in your mind?
Have you been able to find answers for these questions? What are they?
- How can we use technology to address global warming?
What answers do you have for the guiding question?
- Make videos that many people can see to raise the awareness
What is the Area of Interaction for this unit? Do you think it was a good choice? Why?
- Environment. It's a good choice because Global Warming effects the environment.
What questions have your research brought up in your mind?
- What is going to happen to Earth if the Global Warming continues?
- What are serious problems happening right now?
- How long is it going to take to completely stop this?
Have you been able to find answers for these questions? What are they?
- Yes, some.
- If the Global Warming continues, some islands might sink because of melting icebergs and rising of the sea level.
- There are new diseases showing up.
- I'm not sure of this because it will depend on people's reactions.
- Yes, I learned about some diseases that are caused by the global Warming.
- I think I'm doing fine with my work. I did a lot of researching and I like my story board (for planning the video). Also, I found the window video maker program quite easy to use which made me happier with my works. I hope it will turn out nice because I really had put a lot of efforts in these works.
- I think they were all quite satisfying because I worked hard on the works I did and I tried to work independently, not depending on someone/something. I also think I had a positive attitude doing the project because I found them very interesting in many ways and tried to do my best.
- I followed the instructions given, coorperated with my peers when needed(When we can't figure out what to do or give feedbacks and advises to each other) and respected each other in their ideas/decisions about their works or the feedbacks I received.

Technology Process Journal
I finished my storyboard at home and for today we learned how to use the window video maker.
It was my first time using this but, I thought it was quite easy to use.
I enjoyed trying with some sample pictures that were saved in the computer
(Like putting transitions and connecting the pictures...).
I also thought about how I will make the transitions in the videos.
Next time I will be making the real video and I hope it goes well.
